Site Reliability Engineer

Apply for role

STRAND is real-time architecture mapping for engineering teams running service-heavy systems. The product maps every dependency, tracks every change, and surfaces blast radius before anything ships. STRAND is the tool engineering teams rely on when something goes wrong. That means STRAND itself needs to be the most reliable thing in their stack. This role makes that true.

You will own reliability across STRAND's production systems. SLOs, incident response, observability, capacity: this role has real ownership over the uptime and performance that every customer depends on. You work closely with the infrastructure and backend teams and have a direct line from your work to the customer experience.

What you will work on

  • Define, measure, and own SLOs and error budgets for STRAND's core production services.
  • Lead incident response, write thorough post-mortems, and drive the work that prevents recurrence.
  • Build and improve observability across STRAND's systems, including metrics, tracing, and alerting infrastructure.
  • Work with engineering teams to embed reliability thinking into the design and delivery of new features.
  • Identify and eliminate systemic sources of toil through automation and better tooling.
  • Own on-call rotation and continuously improve the process so being on-call is sustainable.

What we are looking for

  • 4 or more years in site reliability or production engineering with real ownership over uptime and incident response.
  • Deep experience with observability tooling: metrics, distributed tracing, structured logging, alerting design.
  • You understand SLO-based reliability engineering and have implemented it in production, not just read about it.
  • Strong coding skills. This is not a pure ops role. Go or Python is expected.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure at production scale on AWS or GCP.
  • You write post-mortems that lead to real change, not just documentation that gets filed and forgotten.

How we work

  • Fully remote. Work from wherever you do your best work.
  • Async by default. Meetings exist when they need to, not as a reflex.
  • Small team. Your decisions ship. There is no committee.
  • We move fast and cut anything that does not serve the outcome.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and equity with straightforward terms.
  • Five weeks paid vacation plus local public holidays.
  • Health coverage based on your location.
  • Home office or co-working stipend.
  • Four months paid parental leave.
  • Regular team off-sites.
