Developer Experience Engineer

Apply for role

STRAND is real-time architecture mapping for engineering teams running service-heavy systems. The product maps every dependency, tracks every change, and surfaces blast radius before anything ships. The backend that powers that needs to be fast, correct, and built to scale well beyond what most teams ever deal with. This role sits at the center of it.

You will own the experience engineers have when they first touch STRAND and every time they build on top of it. SDKs, CLI, docs, onboarding flows, integration patterns — this role shapes all of it. You sit at the intersection of engineering and product, and your work is felt by every developer who ships with STRAND.

What you will work on

  • Build and maintain STRAND's SDKs, CLI tooling, and integration libraries across key languages and platforms.
  • Own the developer onboarding experience from first install to first meaningful insight in the product.
  • Work with the backend team to design APIs that are intuitive, consistent, and built for extension.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, quickstart guides, and integration references.
  • Build example projects and reference implementations that developers actually want to copy from.
  • Identify friction in the developer journey through data and direct feedback, and remove it systematically.

What we are looking for

  • 4 or more years in software engineering with meaningful focus on developer tooling, SDKs, or platform engineering.
  • You have shipped SDKs or CLI tools that real developers use and can speak to what made them work well.
  • Strong coding ability in at least two languages. We use Go and TypeScript. Comfort in both is a strong plus.
  • You write documentation that engineers actually read. Clarity and precision matter more to you than volume.
  • Deep empathy for developers as your users. You have been frustrated by bad DX and you know exactly why.
  • You work well across engineering, product, and design without needing a defined handoff process.

How we work

  • Fully remote. Work from wherever you do your best work.
  • Async by default. Meetings exist when they need to, not as a reflex.
  • Small team. Your decisions ship. There is no committee.
  • We move fast and cut anything that does not serve the outcome.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and equity with straightforward terms.
  • Five weeks paid vacation plus local public holidays.
  • Health coverage based on your location.
  • Home office or co-working stipend.
  • Four months paid parental leave.
  • Regular team off-sites.
